Case Study – Dye Wastewater

Water, Wonder Liquid

Fashion’s Environmental repercussions

Wastewater from textiles often have large COD content and thick colour that are often expensive to treat. The versatile technology of NBT enables the use of ozone in its system. Ozone is highly reactive and often used as a strong oxidising agent which facilitates dye discolouration.

As seen in the illustration
(Right), the NBT system produced significant discolouration of the blue dye. The blue dye was monitored throughout 7.15 hours which yielded 32.7% reduction in COD and 87.9% reduction in colour appearance.

The red dye (Left) was trialed for 8 hours and the reduction of COD and colour were 52.7% and 99.3% respectively.
